Hidalgo's withdrawal from X follows a troubled time for the mayor. She was criticized by political opponents over the cost and necessity of a trip she took in October to the French South Pacific territories of New Caledonia and Tahiti. She also clashed with ministers last week over the French capital's readiness for the 2024 Summer Games.
