It also helped walk through the steps needed to solve a simple math equation without spitting out the answer first, and helped with a more complex software coding problem on a computer screen.It was also an attempt to extrapolate a person's emotional state by watching a selfie video of their face (and deciding that he was happy because he was smiling) and translating English and Italian to show how it Could help people who speak different languages communicate.Gartner analyst Chirag Dekate said the update, which lasted less than 30 minutes, gave the impression that OpenAI was catching up with larger competitors.“Many of the demos and features presented by OpenAI seemed familiar to us because we had seen advanced versions of these demos that Google presented when it launched Gemini 1.5 Pro,” said Dekate. “While Open AI had a first-mover advantage last year with ChatGPT and GPT3, we are now seeing performance gaps compared to its competitors, particularly Google.”Google plans to hold its I/O developer conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, where it is expected to unveil updates to its own AI model, Gemini.
